MardiGrass 2017, Nimbin NSW
Starting in 1993, MardiGrass heads into its 24th year in 2017. The tiny rural town of Nimbin, NSW comes alive to celebrate the cannabis as part of their lifestyle. It originally began in protest for cannabis law reform. While MardiGrass still protests Australian drug laws, it also aims to educate people about all things cannabis – from recreational, industrial to medicinal use. Nimbin is at the heart of Australia’s culture in an area it where cannabis has grown for more than 40 years.
This year features Green Cabaret, Hemposium, CannaQUIZ, Medican Tent, Hemp Olympix, Pot Poetry, Ganja Faeries, Harvest Ball, POLITE, Kombi Konvoy, Pickers Ball, Pot Art, Sunday Parade, rally, speakers and more.
The MardiGrass mission “is to bring about change with as much fun as possible”.

Medical Cannabis for Health Professionals, Melbourne

With Australia legalising medicinal cannabis in November 2016, the industry has the potential to grow to a US$20 billion industry by 2020. This medical cannabis symposium is for health professionals. Speakers will talk about the latest cannabis scientific research and latest trends in this new, growing industry.

Speakers include:

• Paul Mavor – Health House International. As a pharmacist, Paul has spent many years researching the health benefits of cannabis. He holds the first medicinal cannabis import licence in Australia and distributes products to patients.
• Leah Bisani – Green C Medical. Leah is a RN.1/dementia consultant with more than 25 years’ experience. She will speak about cannabis as an alternative option for older patients.
• Peter Crock – Cann Group. Cann Group CEO since 2016, Peter negotiated the organisation’s first regulatory licences for medicinal cultivation and research in Australia.

Other Notable Speakers:

• Professor Ian Bighthope – Nutrition Care Pharmaceuticals. Professor Brighthope is an Australian doctor interested in cannabis as a treatment option. Ian is founding president of the Australian College of Nutritional and Environmental Medicine in 1982. He is also founder of Nutrition Care Pharmaceuticals manufacturing complementary and herbal medicines. Ian will talk about the benefits of medical cannabis for cancer patients, pain management, inflammation and addiction.
• Rhys Cohen – CANN10 Australia. As program director of Cann10 Australia, Rhys brings his industry expertise as a political economist and educator. He will run Australia’s first comprehensive medicinal cannabis education this year.
Attendance of this professional seminar may qualify you for Continuing Education (CE/CPD) points. There is an optional five question multiple choice test.

Cannabis Medicine Symposium, Melbourne
The Cannabis Medicine Symposium intends to put the focus back onto Australian patients. This three-days symposium is suited to medical professionals, policy-makers, and the public including patients and their carers.
Featured is the documentary film by Helen Kapalos “A life of its own. The truth about medical marijuana”. With a heavy focus on educating medical professionals and engaging the health sector, it features world renowned and Australian keynote speakers. They will talk about the benefits and application of medicinal cannabis for treating PTSD, pain, cancer, epilepsy and palliative care.
